How to make one

From an empty field to a saved file. About fifteen minutes the first time.

Before you start

Use a desktop browser, 1024px wide or more; editing on a phone or tablet is not supported. Chrome, Safari and Firefox are all checked. A diagram can be written in Japanese or the Latin alphabet. The editor's own labels are in Japanese — each one is named below.

Steps

  1. Type the part number

    Put it in the field at the top, labeled 型番・品番・モデルコード. Full-width letters and digits are converted to half-width as you type. Up to 120 characters.

  2. Select a range of characters

    Click a character to set the start, then Shift-click another to set the end, and press the button reading 「この範囲（…）を項目にする」. With the keyboard alone, Enter and Shift+Enter do the same.

  3. Write the meaning and the options

    A card appears. Fill in the heading — what that range stands for — and the options: the text as it appears in the part number (the field labelled 記号), then what it means. Press 「選択肢を足す」 for another. What you write goes straight into the preview.

  4. Place a note

    Put the cursor where the note belongs inside a description and press ※ on that row, then pick a note or create one. The diagram shows a superscript number, and the numbers are assigned in the order the diagram reads.

  5. Fix what the checks find

    The panel on the right lists what would break the diagram and what has not been filled in. Click a finding to jump to its card. If leader lines overlap, 「組み直す」 searches for another left/right arrangement.

  6. Save

    SVGを保存, PNGを保存 and JSONを保存 are under the preview. The SVG carries subsets of the fonts it uses, so the letters do not change elsewhere. The JSON is the format to import later and keep editing.

Questions

Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. Typing, layout and export all happen in your browser, and what you make stays there.
Can I use it on a phone?
Not for editing. Use a desktop browser 1024px wide or more. The diagram is laid out in two columns, and a narrow screen leaves the fields too small to work in.
Which languages can a diagram be written in?
Japanese and the Latin alphabet, accented letters included. Korean, Cyrillic and Thai have no glyphs in the bundled fonts, so they cannot be used. The checks flag any missing character, so none can slip into an export unnoticed.
Why is the editor in Japanese?
The interface has not been translated yet — this guide names every button in the meantime. The diagram you make is in whatever language you type.
Can I move a diagram to another machine?
Export the JSON, carry the file, and import it there with JSON読込. Saving happens only inside one browser, so nothing syncs by itself.
May I use the diagrams commercially?
Yes. What you make is yours. The embedded fonts are all licensed for redistribution.
